Aidan works in a variety of areas of atomic physics, focusing in particular on ultracold atomic systems and Bose-Einstein condensates (BECs), but also covering four-wave mixing in atomic vapours. Recent work on microfabricated atom traps was published as the May 2013 cover story of Nature Nanotechnology.
Aidan’s research in four-wave-mixing, in particular the wavelength-transformed image information which can be stored and retrieved from atomic samples and utilised for high-bandwidth communication.
Research interests include compact quantum technology, atom optics, Bose-Einstein condensates, which can be developed into highly sensitive navigation devices.
