How we support you - A training budget tailored to your development

You will receive a training budget for you to choose training tailored to your personal development.

As a KTP Associate, you will be given training and support and can expect to receive development in the following skills:

Some examples of training carried out by previous and current associates through the KTP budget are listed below:

Mohamad Dana, an associate with CCRS Broker Ltd and University of Glasgow has signed up for Prince2 foundation and practitioner training and examination, which he will be doing in June 2017.  PRINCE2 (an acronym for PRojects IN Controlled Environments) is a de facto process-based method for effective project management. Used extensively by the UK Government, PRINCE2 is also widely recognised and used in the private sector, both in the UK and internationally. The PRINCE2 method is in the public domain, and offers non-proprietorial best practice guidance on project management.

Callum Rae, an associate with Hurley Palmer Flatt and University of Strathclyde recently completed a mini MBA course entitled “New Energy Realities”.  This course was selected as it provided a wider look at the energy industry, as well as covering aspects such as policy and finance, which Callum was relatively unfamiliar with given his technical background.

Neil Thomson, an associate with Rumbol Products Ltd and University of Strathclyde undertook a training course provided by Institute of Chemical Engineers. The course was called "Chemical Engineering for Scientists", and it provided a broad overview of chemical engineering concepts and practices aimed at those who had a background in physical sciences.  Neil also used his development budget to apply for his chartership with the Royal Society of Chemistry.

Loic Jacob, an associate with CO2 Estates Ltd and University of Strathclyde is completing training to become a Non Domestic Energy Assessor (trained by Energy Trust). While this is valuable to the KTP project, it is also a career in it's own right providing a solid background in building services and energy use, as well as the use of energy modelling in government approved software to generate Energy Performance Certificates. Once completed, Loic will have achieved a Level 4 Diploma.

Robbie Stewart, an associate with Paisley South Housing Association and the University of the West of Scotland took the  ‘M20463 Implementing a Data Warehouse with Microsoft SQL Server’ course provided by PA Consulting, London.  This is a heavy-weight data management and reporting course.  It’s a high-level course which gives consultants the ability to critically assess IT vendors’ opinion of their own reporting services.
