Celsius Smart Cities Workshop- 16th September 2015

This interactive workshop will bring together excellence from several advanced European Smart Cities projects that will put forward their expertise and their project results on integrated planning, energy efficiency and district energy solutions, among others.

The Institute for Future Cities (IFC) has published a new brochure for the MSc Global Sustainable Cities.

WP2 - Enhancement of City Energy Plans

Objectives :

  • Development of strategic energy action plans that deliver greater impact based on solutions that have strong and realistic prospects for implementation.
  •  Development of strategic energy action plans that promote more integrated solutions with greater efficiency and improved economic pay-back.
  • Strategic energy action plans that are actively supported by key stakeholders and that are aligned with their objectives.
  • City energy plans that are robust and can respond to changing circumstances. Improved implementation, monitoring and ongoing revision of city energy plans.

Description of Work and Role of Partners:

 Fundamentally the role of this work package is to create and enhance the city energy action plans, by integrating analysis of the city energy systems and selecting appropriate measures based on strategic thinking with a strong focus on economics and stakeholder involvement. This work package works together closely with WP4 to ensure the identification and delivery of high quality, high impact projects - and assist the prioritisation and integration of these projects.

This work package is delivered in each city by teams of local partners,supported by key experts and organisations in our international partnership.

 Key Outputs:
The Enchanced SEAPs – Ghent, Glasgow, Gothenburg and Riga have each developed an enhanced SEAP and are now working on the implementation of these actions  
Developing enhanced SEAPs: A STEP UP guide for cities – This guide documents the STEP UP approach to developing an enhanced SEAP, providing information on key stages, tools and methods, and recommendations for other cities developing their own SEAPs
