Transport

Compact and easy to travel around, Glasgow has excellent transport links to the rest of the UK, Europe and overseas, with London only an hour's flight away. It is just 40 minutes from Loch Lomond and 45 minutes by train to Edinburgh, meaning Glasgow is a prime location, no matter where you want to go.

      

Glasgow has a well-developed transport system featuring two airports, numerous bus services and an extensive urban rail network.

  • Glasgow International Airport is 12 km away from Glasgow city centre. The airport bus is a fast and affordable transport option. Taxi will take around 15 minutes.
  • With most European destinations within 2 hours of Glasgow, this offers a short journey time and low cost travel
  • Delegates from North America can travel direct to Glasgow from a number of destinations including – New York, Philadelphia, Toronto, Florida, Vancouver ...
  • Glasgow Prestwick Airport is a 30 minute train journey from the city centre, arriving at Glasgow Central Station.
  • The M8 motorway passes through the city centre, providing convenient road access.

Accommodation

With over 17,000 sleeping rooms in the Greater Glasgow area, and 11,000 alone in the city centre you will not struggle to find accommodation to suit your needs when staying in Glasgow. The city provides quality accommodation across all budgets from hostels to 5* hotels, including a wide range of international hotel chains. Glasgow hotels are on average 16% cheaper than the UK average hotel room and a massive 36% cheaper than those hotels in London.

Whilst attending the conference delegates can choose to stay in University of Strathclyde accommodation. This accommodation is situated on campus, next to the conference venue and dining venue. Wifi is available in all rooms, with single ensuite rooms available for £44 per night bed and breakfast. Registration has now opened for the conference and university accommodation can be booked in the same place you purchase your delegate tickets.. We have also agreed a preferential rate with the Radisson Hotel in Glasgow, where our conference dinner will be held on the Wednesday evening. Delegates are able to stay for £125 a night for room only basis.
