Strathclyde Business School: Department of Hospitality and Tourism Management 

The Department of Hospitality and Tourism Management at SU redesigned Introduction to Tourism class (200 students annually) to increase student engagment with course material by providing structured opportunities for students to take responsibility for their learning. The course redesign involved a 50% reduction in lectures replacing them with podcasts and regular online tests and the enhancement of the remaining lectures with student, peer and tutor interaction via electronic voting systems. Significant gain in overall exam mark in 2006/07 diet (+12.2%) compared with 2005/06.
