Based on the activities of Theme 2 of the Marie Curie Changing Employment network, HRM is organising a day-long event ‘Sounds and scenes of migration’. Looking into literature, film and music, the event will explore the questions of identity, inclusion and exclusion as experienced by migrants within the UK and from outside of the UK. Two film screenings, book readings and a guest-speaker’s session will be followed by discussions and a music jam-session. For details please see the programme below:

09:30 – 10:00	Arrival of the participants, coffee, welcome by Prof. Paul Stewart, Network Coordinator
10:00 – 10: 30	Reading by Paul Stewart from the book I could read the sky (Timothy O'Grady), followed by a discussion
10:30 – 12:30	Screening of the movie Kings (88’) (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vMwvOHu3Gn0), followed by a discussion
12:30 - 13:30	Lunch break (sandwiches provided)
13:30- 14:30	Guest Speaker: Cezar Macarie (INTEGRIM, Ceu) ‘Invisible Lives: Romanian Night Workers in London’ – Documentary Short Film by Iulius-Cezar Macarie &Timothy Marrinan (http://www.integrim.eu/wp-content/uploads/2014/01/invisible-lives-poster-big.pdf) followed by a discussion.
14:30-15:00	Guest Speaker: Aleksandra Lojek (Belfast Migrant Centre at Northern Ireland Council for Ethnic Minorities)
15:00	Coffee break
15:30 – 17:00	Music session (Led by Chubz, Brian, Paul, Zoli… bring your own instruments)
17:00 - 17:30	Session for ESRs (publication and seminars plans)
